Falmouth Amateur Radio Association (FARA) was founded in 1931. FARA, Inc. is a 501 C(3) non-profit, Massachusetts corporation (EIN 04-2655804), an ARRL affiliated organization and an ARRL Special Services Club. The primary purposes are to operate a non-profit corporation for educational and scientific purposes as follows:

  • To educate and increase the proficiency of its members in the science of radio communications.

  • To provide for dissemination of information among its members concerning scientific advancement and progress in the field of radio communication.

  • To organize and train units of licensed radio amateurs capable of maintaining radio communications as a public service during periods of emergency.

  • To encourage and sponsor experimental activities in radio communications and electronics, and to the end that skills and experience gained in amateur radio will further the application of electronics at large.

  • To promote the elevation of standards of practice and ethics in the conduct of amateur radio communications.

FARA is the largest amateur radio group on Cape Cod. Some of our members are "snow birds", fleeing the Cape for points south right after Labor Day each year. Some are "summer residents", with their main residences scattered all over the Northeast. Some of our members are "transients", coming to work at one of the several institutes or government facilities on the Cape. Some of our members only spend one or two weeks a year on the Cape and Islands, but they join FARA simply to help us support the repeater network that all of our licensed visitors enjoy while they are in the area.
