FARA Volunteer Examiner Sessions (Amateur Radio License Examinations)

FARA conducts regular ARRL VE amateur radio license examination sessions for all amateur radio license levels. The exam fee is $15.00.  Sessions are open to anyone wishing to take an exam--you do not need to pre-schedule an exam. Exam sessions that are held in conjunction with FARA license courses will be announced as soon as the courses are scheduled.

Important change for anyone seeking an amateur radio license:

In order to take a license exam, applicants must have an FCC Registration Number (FRN).  Obtaining an FRN is done on-line via the FCC CORES web site, as outlined below.  If you already have an FRN, you do not need to register again.

For step by step directions to register for a new FRN, go to: https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/html/Register_New_FRN.htm

Please register for an FRN BEFORE coming to take a license exam.  Please be sure to bring the FRN with you when you come for the exam.

Schedule:  Exam sessions for all license levels are held on the second Saturday of every month beginning at 9AM, year around.

Location:  Falmouth Fire Station, 399 Main St, 2nd Floor conference room, Falmouth, MA 02540.

Identification: Bring 2 forms of ID with you (a drivers license plus a credit card will suffice).  If you do not have a drivers license you will need some form of photo ID. A passport, a school ID, a seniors ID for airlines, or similar.  Also, please be sure to have your FCC Registration Number (FRN) with you.

Documentation: If you have an amateur radio license, bring two copies of the license.  Also, bring two copies of any CSCE earned during the last year to be used for credit for a license class upgrade.
