FARA Future Fund

The FUTURE FUND was established to help provide a source of funding for special expenses that do not regularly recur, but significantly enhance FARA's ability to continue providing its members with the best possible experiences in amateur radio. It's usually an expenditure that is recommended by the board and taken to the membership for a vote of approval. Income from earmarked donations, ham fests, and raffles will go into the FUTURE FUND. What are some of the expenses covered from the FUTURE FUND likely to be? Remember that great buy on a TH-5 we got just prior to a recent Field Day? How about FARA's very own registered copy of logging software so that all stations in a club contest run the same version? It would sure be nice to have our very own club house with a nice shack in it, towers outside, etc. Someday that may become a reality and when it does, the FUTURE FUND is what's going to help equip it.

FARA's REPEATER FUND is designated to cover routine maintenance on our network of repeaters. While our machines are very reliable, they don't maintain themselves and there's always antennas and coax to replace, equipment that needs repairs, and the occasional piece that needs replacing. Consider a modest donation to our repeater fund.

FARA's WEB SITE FUND is designated to help cover costs for this web site. While we get a significant price break as a Non Profit, it isn't free. This fund helps us keep the web site rolling without hitting the GENERAL FUND too hard. Many members and visitors at our monthly meetings toss a buck or two into the ever present Web Site cookie jar. As a result of this and designated donations our web site out-of-pocket costs are significantly reduced.

FARA's GENERAL FUND is designated to help cover our routine operating expenses and, most importantly help keep our dues down. FARA's dues structure hasn't had in increase in almost 20 years. Certainly our annual operating expenses have increased over that period and the GENERAL FUND is what helps keep them down.

FARA is a 501C(3) nonprofit Massachusetts corporation and donations of cash or in kind may be tax deductible for you. Check with your accountant to make sure and we will be happy to supply you and your accountant with the appropriate documentation including our current IRS opinion letter.
