This Field Day was again dedicated to the memories of the FARA members
and a past FARA president who passed in the past year.

This year's Field Day was special in a lot of ways. Not only did we beat our 4A score of 2005
with this year's 2A operation, but we discovered some new stars.
Thanks this year to photos supplied by Bob N1WAT, Celeste W1CMD, Jim KC1KM, Geoff W1OH.

One of this year's stars was undoubtedly the new 40 beam we finally purchased for the phone operation. It's a trapless HyGain 2 element Discoverer and it really lived up to it's expectations. We already had a pretty good idea of what a 40m beam would do for our scores from the 2 element Cushcraft we've run for years on CW,

The phone end of the field sporting its new 2 element 40m beam and our trusty old HyGain TH5 for 20-15m.

The CW and VHF end of the field is always a veritable forest of towers

As usual, Shawn Reed N1HOQ, FARA's Mr. Satellite was out there with his very comfortable portable satellite set up. Shawn really racked up the contacts this year compared to last year when there seemed to be a total dearth of satellite passes during Field Day.

Another star this year was the two propane fueled generators supplied by Jim Leavitt, KC1KM. No more dice rolling with hot fueling gasoline generators. Jim rigged a nifty switch over system with a smaller tank in case we ran out of fuel in the big 60 pounder. As it turns out both generators ran the full 24 hour period with a few pounds to spare. Both of these were once gasoline driven and Jim did the conversions himself.

The GOTA station housing was again provided by Jim, KC1KM this year. It's a pretty comfortable operating position for what it is. Here Doug, N1OEI logs for his harmonic Jeremy who turned out to be a pro at the mic. GOTA chief Mike, K1VTR looks over their shoulders, GOTA was another star this year, setting an all time record high for QSO's. Great job Mike.
