FARA Field Day 2018

FARA Field Day 2018 is done and dusted. Teardown took 1 hour and 45 minutes, thanks to the large number of volunteers.

In 2017, we made 1,959 contacts on CW, SSB, and Digital. In 2018, we made 2,095 contacts. The increase was mostly in CW, which counts double. So, the raw contact results look very good, particularly given the poor weather.  The submitted score for the FARA 2018 Field Day is 7,722. We scored 7,724 in 2017. Our total score this year was slightly lower, because we missed significant bonus points.  Total QSO points were 6,462. The bonus point total was 1,260.  We had one FD QSO with New Zealand, which wins the distance prize!

While we made lots of contacts, there was also plenty of socializing.  The usual Saturday night cookout with Grillmaster Gene at the grill, Jim Leavitt's excellent Sunday morning breakfast, and Gene's lunch cookout on Sunday all contributed to the social aspect of Field Day.  The weather wasn't great, but we made the best of it.

Thanks again to the 59 members and visitors who helped make another FARA Field Day fun and successful. If you missed this event, you missed a good time with a great bunch of folks. Put it on your calendar now for next year.
