Club Station


Club Station Access:

FARA's club station, K1AIR, is located on Joint Base Cape Cod.  The club station is a work in progress, with new antennas and additional equipment scheduled for installation in the near future.  There are two operating positions.  One position is equipped with an Elecraft K3 and the other position is equipped with an ICOM IC-9100.  Both stations are equipped with PC's for logging and working digital modes.  The positions are equipped with WinKeyers and Bencher keys for CW op's.   The station is equipped with a three element, tri-band 10/15/20 meter beam, a Cushcraft R5 vertical covering 10-20 meters, and dipoles for 80 and 40 meters, as well as VHF antennas.

FARA members wishing to access the club station must complete an application process and obtain an ID issued by Joint Base Cape Cod.  

If you are applying for a base pass for the first time, please send Charlie the following information by email for a background check:
  • Legal First Name
  • Middle Initial 
  • Last Name
  • Driver License Number and the State where it was issued
  • Indicate if you are a USA Citizen or not
  • Date of Birth
Charlie will type up your information and send it electronically to the Access Control Point.

When the results are returned to Security Office, they will notify Charlie and he will contact you by email to set up a date and time to have your picture taken and ID card issued to complete the process.

Bourne Gate - open 24x7x365:

The Bourne gate access road is Connery Avenue.  Go through the gate and continue on Connery Avenue until you come to a rotary.  Go around the rotary to Richardson Road.  Continue on Richardson Road, passing helicopters on the left, followed by three low tan block buildings on the left.  The club station is in the last of these buildings.  FARA is on the sign and you can see the beam on the telephone pole.   The club station is accessed via the door on the back side of the building with a push button numeric lock.

Falmouth Gate - open 24x7x365:

Access the Falmouth gate via Sandwich Road.  See the details of the new gate by opening the New Falmouth Gate PDF file.   Take a right at the General's Road intersection.  Follow General's Road to the "T" intersection with Richardson Road.   Take a right onto Richardson Road.
